Illness affects far more than the body. A long recovery, a difficult diagnosis, repeated health setbacks or the worry of watching a parent or child suffer can drain hope, sleep and peace from an entire family. In such times, many people turn to prayer for the strength to keep going.

In Sanatan Dharma, Lord Shiva as Mrityunjaya, the conqueror of death, is worshipped for protection and healing, and the Mahamrityunjaya mantra from the Rigveda is among the most revered prayers for long life and wellbeing. Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician and source of Ayurveda, is invoked for recovery, and Lord Hanuman for strength and vitality.

At the Sarveshwari Shakti Akhara, our sadhvis perform the pooja with a personal sankalp in the name of the person who is unwell. Depending on the situation, this may include Mahamrityunjaya jaap, Dhanvantari pooja, a havan for health and protection, and recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa. You can join live online or at the ashram, or book on behalf of a family member who cannot attend.
